Costco said the vacuum is meant to “deliver the best possible service” for the sharks and other fish it sells.
Costa Rica’s Aquaculture Ministry said the product is designed to be “extremely eco-friendly,” and that its design and manufacturing process will help to eliminate harmful chemicals and pollutants.
Costacuaro said the company is working with researchers and scientists to determine the best way to use the microbots and find the best environmental performance.
Costanacaro said a shark vacuum that can remove 20 to 40 percent of the material in its water tank, while not being expensive, will be “the most efficient way” to remove contaminants in the water supply.
Costamare said the new vacuum will be in stores this year and will eventually be sold in restaurants, bars and clubs.
Costas said the products are a big step toward making sharks more attractive to customers, and are also a way to reduce the environmental impact of the industry.
Costar said Shark Vacuums could potentially be used for cleaning water for people and pets.
